The current panorama of the main social media platforms gives a low bar for using moral wisdom to do good for the society. It is not debatable that these platforms not only depend on it, but that they thrive on the negativity, divisive and political polarization that they allow.
After all they do something good for the world and one cannot deny the great value of the world that they have the power to offer. Still, they have deliberately chosen to use unethical knowledge to promote online toxicity that eventually leads to eyeballs and exercise on their platform.
Analysis has repeatedly shown that negativity and conflicting thoughts increase online activity. The most important social media platforms understand this and use their algorithms to serve this content at the expense of genuineness, positivity and civility.
They do a significant job of defending their actions by being interesting to various liberties of civil liberties and the like, and speak of their efforts to fight the issues they have created akin to fake information and trolling. They actually have the information and monetary assets to deal with these challenges.
They still choose to use it to largely promote their enterprise fashions which are almost entirely driven by the promotion which is almost entirely driven by the excessive use of their platform and then by specific people. They get that attraction by focusing on it. How they target people and how privacy is violated is a different matter.
The problem for our society is that these online social platforms have created an influential market that attracts a lot of people, and there usually aren’t enough other options to offer a counterbalance. As such, the major social platforms of the moment have led an entire era of socializing to rely on a certain type of online expertise, one that is less about picking each other up and more about putting each other down. .
A social revolution may be needed to change this and this variation begins with social platforms that use moral wisdom to advertise social good. We aim to be one of the many counterbalances of the future that aim to create communities that offer positivity, collaboration and social well-being.
It is about decisions and people that we have prioritized positivity over negativity, sharing and collaborating over sharing, security and privacy over surveillance and trolling, and social good over sensational discord.
After all, the question will be how much interest is there in online platforms that focus on doing good for the world. How interested would others be in a web based platform built to elevate them? How much curiosity will the world’s online platform whose foreign money is about serving each other?
All this remains to be seen but we believe that a social revolution is needed to balance the effects of the big social media platforms of the moment. We chose to spend money on our society by investing in our platform. And we choose to bet on the good of individuals and the good of our society.
